History
Equally important is the History of the Oglethorpe House. Everyone knows the famous book and film " Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". But what most people do not know is that the photograph for the cover of the book is the work from Jack Leigh. Who had his photo gallery downstairs, after that time it became "one of" many popular tourist attractions in the historic district of downtown Savannah. Both upper two levels were his privet living area for 25 years before he died.
After all, this house is a Historical Building of significance, recognized in 1973.
Layout
Once inside, you’ll find a grand living area with lots of seating, a large flat-screen TV and a "hidden" bar area, perfect for entertaining.
Also, the restored pocket doors open to the Billiard room, which features a tournament-grade pool table. As well as a dartboard and stereo system, perfect for game time. Then the floor-to-ceiling windows that let tons of natural light in. Consequently gives a view of our beautiful historic Savannah.
Spacious modern kitchen well equipped with all you need to cook a good meal. While the dining table with seating serve six guests, the pool table is convertible to a large serving table. Additional tables and chairs are available on-site for larger gatherings. In this case, convenient is the full bath downstairs, complete with iconic claw-foot tub, perfect for soaking.
Finally the grand staircase leads to the home’s two bedrooms, a bonus “trunk room” and the fully renovated upstairs bathroom. A master bedroom offers a king size bed and the guest bedroom offers a queen bed. Further, the bonus “trunk room” can serve as a play room or bedroom for children and has a double futon. (max 4).
Both bedrooms have plenty of windows hung with elegant draperies, as well as flat-screen TVs and DVD players.
Outdoor Space
In addition, the Oglethorpe House has plenty of outdoor space! An elegant wrought-iron balcony overlooks Oglethorpe Avenue & Abercorn street, featuring a bistro set perfect for sipping coffee or cocktails. Or, step out the back door to find the secluded slate-stone courtyard, with an outdoor dinette and beautiful iron gating, which opens to Oglethorpe Avenue.

Location
On the corner of Oglethorpe Avenue and Abercorn Street. It is within a stone’s throw of the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace, The Owens-Thomas House. Of course, Oglethorpe Square and Colonial Park Cemetery, just to name a few.
Very convenient is, that the ghost tours and the Trolleys pick up and drop off are right across the street at the Colonial Park Cemetery, and you are within walking distance of the oldest and most beautiful squares in Savannah. In fact, a Car is not necessary.
